DEALING WITH THE INSIDER THREAT
Monday 19th March 2012
09:30-16:00
Host: Martin Smith, Chairman & Founder, The Security Company (International) Limited and The Security Awareness Special Interest Group, UK
Overview of the workshop:
In 2009, the UK suffered £1.3 billion from internal fraud. As the trend for insider fraud continues to increase, reaching its highest in 22 years, operators face growing concerns over measures of eradicating the threat.
This workshop will describe ways to tackle the insider threat. For the smarter organisations this presents an opportunity in harder times to quickly and significantly reduce their exposure through straightforward and relatively inexpensive initiatives. People want to be more secure- there is an enormous willingness amongst workforces to follow good practice.
The workshop agenda features:
09:30 How to harness and channel customer support
11:00 Refreshments & Networking Break
11:30 Dealing with breaches of trust rather than breaches of security
12:45 Lunch Break
14:00 Getting greater attention- moving employees from being unaware to being committed to information protection, using real-life stories and subject matter that people are concerned about
14:45 Measurement- “if you’re not measuring, you’re only practicing”
15:15 A Case study and a proposed model for an effective security communications program
